EUSPA – EU Agency for the Space Programme User Consultation Platform event

The OCEANIDS project was represented at the EUSPA – EU Agency for the Space Programme User Consultation Platform (UCP) event on October 8th. Eirini Marinou from GEOSYSTEMS HELLAS S.A. took part in the Maritime and Inland Waterways session, held from 09:30 to 11:00 CET, where she delivered a presentation that explored how Earth Observation (EO) data can support and improve maritime activities. Her presentation specifically highlighted the contributions of the OCEANIDS project in building a more resilient and inclusive Blue Economy, a core mission of the project.

During the session, Eirini emphasized the importance of EO data in facilitating more informed decision-making for maritime operations. She also discussed how the OCEANIDS project aligns with broader goals of fostering sustainable development in coastal regions, leveraging advanced climate services and tools to enhance adaptive capacities. By making critical data accessible and interoperable, the project enables regional authorities and stakeholders to better manage climate risks and long-term challenges posed by environmental changes.

The User Consultation Platform hosted by EUSPA is a key event that gathers experts, stakeholders, and decision-makers from across multiple sectors to share insights and best practices in using EU Space services such as Copernicus, Galileo, and EGNOS. The event aimed to support collaboration and innovation, while also contributing to the European Green Deal goals and the digital transition in Europe. Discussions at the UCP revolved around how these space services can be harnessed to tackle challenges in sectors ranging from maritime operations to emergency management.

The event served as a valuable platform for the OCEANIDS project to demonstrate its ongoing commitment to supporting sustainable marine resource management and providing practical solutions for coastal communities.
