The OCEANIDS project was represented at the 18th Plinius Conference on Mediterranean Risks, held from 30 September to 3 October 2024 in Chania, Greece. The conference provided an interdisciplinary platform for discussing climate risks in the Mediterranean, focusing on extreme weather events, wildfires, hydro-geological effects, and their impacts on natural resources, agriculture, and society.
GEOSYSTEMS HELLAS S.A. presented the abstract “OCEANIDS: Enhancing Climate Resilience and Inclusive Governance for a Sustainable Blue Economy in Coastal Regions.” The presentation highlighted the OCEANIDS project’s efforts to create user-driven tools that integrate spatial and non-spatial data into a single platform for Climate-Informed Maritime Spatial Planning (CI-MSP), supporting resilience and sustainable development in coastal regions.
The project’s core innovation, the OCEANIDS Decision Support Platform (O-DSP), was featured as a critical tool for harmonizing climate data and supporting local adaptation strategies. The platform facilitates meaningful engagement between citizens and stakeholders to promote inclusive governance and civic participation in climate resilience efforts.
OCEANIDS also focuses on mobilizing sustainable finance and resources to scale adaptation efforts and close the climate protection gap. The conference provided a valuable opportunity for OCEANIDS to engage with experts across various sectors, showcasing its role in supporting coastal regions’ climate resilience and sustainable development goals.
