From June 17-20, 2024, the 43rd EARSeL Symposium was held in Manchester, UK, gathering remote sensing experts to discuss the latest advancements in climate change and environmental monitoring. Among the many innovative projects presented, GEOSYSTEMS HELLAS S.A. showcased the OCEANIDS project, emphasizing its role in enhancing climate resilience in coastal regions.The symposium began with an opening ceremony featuring key speakers who set the stage for a week of insightful discussions. The OCEANIDS project integrates diverse data sources, including historical, time-series, and near-real-time data, to support comprehensive climate risk assessments. It also employs quantitative environmental impact assessment methods and advanced meteorological models to estimate climate change mitigation.
By demonstrating practical applications in seven regions, OCEANIDS aims to enhance resilience through tailored climate services and tools. The project promotes sustainable development in coastal regions, supporting reliable decision-making for environmental policies and long-term strategic planning.
